Our cars have so many parts that it becomes hard to understand what they all do. This holds true for many people when it comes to the differential. For people that want to learn the basics about the parts in their car, we’ve put together a quick overview of what a differential does.
When you turn while driving your car, your wheels have to move at different speeds to avoid one becoming burned out prematurely. This job gets done by your differential. It makes the inner wheel rotate slower than the outer wheel. Basically, when turning, increasing the speed of a wheel on one side causes the differential to decrease that same speed on the other side.
