Check Your Fluids
The number one part of any vehicle car is checking the fluids. Always, always, always check your vehicle’s fluids to make sure it stays in good condition. In the winter particularly, you’re going to want to keep an eye on the anti-freeze, and you will want to double check that you are using the correct transmission fluid for your vehicle. This information can usually be found in your owner’s manual, or one of our experts can assist you.
Keep The Vehicle Warm
Cold starts can wreak havoc on your transmission. In the winter, keep your car in a garage if you have one available. If you don’t have an enclosed space to keep your car in, let your car idle before you take off. This will allow the entire engine to warm up a bit, so that all of the parts in your engine are up to size, and ready to go. Make sure to never leave an idling car unattended, however, and don’t let it idle for too long.
Take It To The Experts
Last but not least, hope for the best, but plan for the worst. If it’s been a while since your transmission was last serviced, take it into the shop and have our experts inspect is and service it for you. If your transmission doesn’t need any service, we’ll let you know, and you can continue into winter with peace of mind.
